PopCharger Cleaning?

About how long or how many miles until you have to recharge the filter. My filter is still a solid blue color but with this heat and pollen it wont last. Thanks

Re: PopCharger Cleaning?

I believe the recommendation is to clean and re-oil the filter when build-up is about the depth of the wire grid. The colour (blue or red) is to help ensure even coverage of the filter oil when applying it, not to gauge the effectiveness of the filtration nor time to 're-charge' the filter with oil.

Some that do this too often or with too much oil have fouled their MAF sensors.

Re: PopCharger Cleaning?

iLLG35,
Dude you really need to clean your Injen filter ASAP.
I clean mine everytime I do the oil change and its fairly dirty then, I could only imagine what yours looks like. I bet you have lost some HP due to the dirty filter. Clean it, and you'll notice the difference.

Re: PopCharger Cleaning?

You take it off, go get your hose, and stick it in the filter, spraying water from inside out until it's debris free.

Set it on a piece of towel or cardboard until it fully dries.

Spary the outside of it with filter oil....do not over spray. Just until you see color.

According to K&N, the dirtier it gets (to a point), the more effective a filter it is. Don't over clean (too frequently). If I remember correctly from the last time I was reading K&N's literature, K&N claims 50K miles is the life between cleanings in "normal" operating conditions.

Re: PopCharger Cleaning?

And, don't use a high pressure spray to "blast" the crud off the filter from spraying inside. You can damage the filter media. You can use a clean soft brush, like a paint brush to gently brush off much of the crud on the outside. K&N has a spray cleaner that you spray on after brushing the large stuff off prior to rinsing the filter.

If you buy the K&N Recharge kit, you can follow their instructions.
