trunk light wiring

i put a 12w3 custom box in my trunk but it is blocking the stock trunk light so i wanted to put the streetglow lights in the trunk. i took a look at the stock light and saw that there were four wires connecting it. so it has two pairs of positive/negative wires. does anyone have any idea why there are two pairs of wires? it also seems like it is very hard to get to where the wires are connected to the light so i might have to just cut the wire and connect it back. any help and suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Re: trunk light wiring

Those extra wires might be for your third brake light?

i ran power from the front of the car and had a block mounted where my jack is... like this:

Cheers, ted
