airbag warning light-wont go away

04-Sedan and airbag warning light just wont go away. I viewed the thread on this and have tried turning it on, waiting 7 sec, turning it off, and repeating 4-5 times.

I've even tried disconnecting the battery (reseting the computer). Any other suggestions or am I just going to have to see the dealer?

You have to go to the dealer. If you disconnect the sensor and turn on power, the light will come on and the only way to turn the light off is to go to the dealer.

thats what I was afraid of, I don't have any reason to believe there is something wrong with my airbags. They don't just break like that. Im certain my dealer will try to sell me airbags. How much did they cost, im sure they are expensive. And if many other people are having this problem isn't it some kind of defect?

NO

You just need to be patient. Re-do the airbag learning. It took me probably 15 times before I got it right. If you use a stopwatch you will get it much faster.

I bet you will get it off this way.

On the first trip, the dealer should just clear the code. You'll have to wait and see if it comes back. It usually won't.

Listen to this man. Follow the procedure in the FSM. If you don't have a FSM (available for free download if you do a little searching), then I don't know what to tell you. The sequence of blinking tells you if there is still something disconnected. Read the service manual section on the airbag!!!

ok thanks guys,
I have the service manual on disk, and im going to try and see what it says regarding airbags. But first, what is that procedure exactly, that you used with the stop watch. Im going to do that first.

Light still wont go away however the chirping sound coming from my car during small turns and heavy brake has disappeared entirely!!! I realized that the air bag light had come on around the time the chirping sound stopped suddenly.

My guess is the airbag wasn't folded right and the sound was just the gas escaping, very slowly. Im getting a little upset over this, since airbags are covered to 110,000Km in Canada and I just hit 115,000. So much for Nissan quality.
