How to go about blacking out grill WITHOUT emblem?

I want paint my grill black (err get it painted black) and i dont want the emblem anymore. Should i just take it up to a body shop and ask them to paint it? How can i get the emblem off... and will there be a big gap in the middle of my grill or anything? Drop me a word on how to get the stock grill black without an emblem (or maybe an aftermarket grill that looks like the stock would without emblem and is black)

The emblem is removed by opening the hood and pressing the tabs on the back of the emblem while at the same time pushing the emblem towards the front of the car. It comes right off. A local body shop did not encourage me to paint the grill because they didn't feel they could get the paint to withstand the stone chips very well.

If you want to be really hardcore about it, you could probably strip and powdercoat the grill with maybe a clearcoat for the ultimate rockchip protection. It might cost a lot though.

hmmm im not trying to do this cheap and have it screw up in the end.... i dont mind spending ~$200-300 if it'll be worth it. I just have seen the grills blacked out and like how it looks on the black car

it all depends on what your body shop can do. I brought the body shop some pieces made by TSGURU. The pieces just covered the gap and they welded it to the aluminum coating, fiber glassed and bondoed it in. That's what it looked like I saw them do most of the process. They said it would of been easier if the pieces were a bit longer and actuall overlapped the ends more. This way the can melt it in and it would have a solid connection.
