My G35 Testarosa

Well after 5 weeks from order my Crawford Plenum arrived this week and I installed it today. In Italian, Testarosa means "red head". I ordered mine red powder coat, what do you think?

Dynoed yesterday without the Plenum for a benchmark and will be going back this Thursday for another Dyno to see the results. Will post to this thread...Rod

Very Nice. Red hot chilly pepper!

Be sure to get wide band AF reading for your dyno runs ... and get the files on floppy so you can easily and better compare the runs using the Dynojet software (assuming DynoJet dyno used). I'd also be interested in the pre/post run comparo.

Congrat!

Re: My G35 Testarosa

did you have any clearance issues? was there any need to use a double-gasket method to stop leaks?

Oh thank god, its a plenum. I was hoping you didn't put some ugly *** testarossa looking body kit on your car.

Looks good

I was really hoping that I would not see that as well.

Thanks Clint for the ideas. It is a DynoJet so I'll inquire about the Air Fuel check but the car is running great. How do you get the DynoJet software?...Rod

Re: My G35 Testarossa

Hey n1cK, if by clearance issues you mean with the hood closed the answer is no. I am leaving off the engine cover (that's why I got it powder coated) due to hearing about a lot of clearance issues with other folk on this site when you try to put it back on. I never even tried to see if it would fit; put the cover right into the basement.

I did use the double gasket method as Crawford sends one with the Plenumn and recommends you install it right over the OEM gasket. I even called Doug at Crawford and put the phone to engine and revved it (I didn't know what it should sound like and I was worried about leaks) and he said it sounded dead on....Rod

Re: My G35 Testarossa

Thanks socalg35, you reminded me of the correct spelling of Testarossa I was too quick to get the post out to confirm 1 "s" or 2. Sorry for the mis-lead I too think this body looks just fine ....Rod

Re: My G35 Testarossa

Ughhhhh!! For a moment I thought you had converted your G35 like this other thread I saw where a guy tried to convert his toyota supra into a ferrari and called it LAMAROSSA.Very funny thread, but the guy just F&@K UP the car so bad, it wasn't even funny.

Re: My G35 Testarosa

Rod, wow, that looks great! Personally, a bit too much red for me though. Sometimes a bit of contrast in colors is better. Maybe the ground wires in blue or something. Do you think the 10 wires makes much difference? I still have the basic 5. If it does, I may upgrade my entire set, since the construction quality of mine is starting to show and it's time for an upgrade.

Re: My G35 Testarossa

ckG35, I only have experience with the 10 wire so I can only speak to that. Most noticeable to me was the shifts, definitely faster in AT and MM. The quality from gordgee's Grounding Gear is first class. As far as color to each his own ....Rod

Re: My G35 Testarossa

hey rod, i wasn't talkin' about the clearance issues with the hood. i was talkin' about the double gasket method. i am very worried about leaks, and i can't say much about a product that has you use two gaskets. seems like they need to have a smaller tolerance on their clearance between the head and intake plenum. not flamin' on the company or anything, as i hear they have great customer service and doug is great to work with, but nevertheless.

n1cK!

ps-it would be hard to tell if a car has leaks over the phone.
