Octane Booster--Good Idea?

Here in CA our premium fuel is only 91 octane whereas in other parts of the country it is 93-94. I was thinking of adding 1/4 bottle of octane booster to every full tank, good idea or not? I'd like to reiterate that I don't intend or expect to take a tenth of my 1/4 times. I'd just like to maintain the life and virility of the G in California since premium fuel here is more like mid-grade fuel in other states.

Nope don't need it! 91 is all you need! Infiniti/Nissan has a $hit-fit with additives!

Re: Octane Booster--Good Idea?

I'm wondering that myself. :> I think it's because of California's strict emissions standards. The gasoline sold here is full of crap that will lower emissions and as a result lower octane rating.

oic... u guys get screwed when it comes to cars.... i wanna move to some state with no emmissions laws and huge long stretches of country high way and twisties where all g's can live freely with 100 octane in their tanks and smiles on their owners faces.

Be careful with anything other than gasoline that you put in the fuel tank. It can really mess with O2 sensors.
I personally wouldn't put octane boost in. Not necessary, and may be harmful.

Prescott Arizona, 1 1/2 hr drive north of Phoenix Arizona. They require no emissions!!!! That means no cats and best performance... except one thing. Elevation is 5500 ft.

Oh well...

Re: Octane Booster--Good Idea?

Florida we have 93 and in my county, Hillsborough (Tampa) we have NO emissions regulations. Yeeha.

Our sacrifice is you have to drive to north florida/south georgia to drive on a road with curves. Boring roads here otherwise.

Re: Octane Booster--Good Idea?

Up here in New Hampshire, we can get 94 octane at either Shell or Sunoco. I paid $2.05 today for 94.
