lol ok. It was my first time using the torque wrench and i thought the click noise means its tightnened correctly. when i felt the click on all 6 i thought it wa ssonde until i realized soem were not tightened and i find out that all of em were not tightened and woudlnt tighten anymore. I saw the 6 bolts all have broken tips so I opened it upa gain and saw the broken tips inside the hole.

man, this is plain stupid.
If you broke one bolt, it might be the problem of the bolt itself, but you broke 6 of them, it gotta be your own fault.
read the manual carefully, the unit of the torque is inch-pound.
100 inch-pound = 8.33 ft-pound.

i think after u broke 1, why didnt u stop. pause, ponder.ask.searched.then waited for an answer...
if i broke something, i'd be like "oh snap, wait, maybe i should....."

as for using a inch pound torque wrench.
what ever happened to using a good wrench, hand tight, do a 1/4 turn and wala..im sure unless its a engine stud or head stud, diff. story...
do some human torque..he2.just my 2 cents...but i guess some like to do it by the book.

yea but how do you keep breaking them ????? LOL.... my bad if this is rude, but after the second one, wouldnt u realize that there is something obviously very wrong and not continue along with that same tq setting ?????????
Or maybe read the directions that it says you can hand tighten them with one hand if you dont have tq wrench ???

breaking 6 bolts is ludacris.

Sorry, i had to lol. I have no advice to give to you. I think you would have learned after breaking the first bolt to figure out what went wrong. Your bad.

BTW, OP - for future reference, once you feel/hear the click give a 2nd little snug to confirm the click - it wont tighten it any further, but will confirm you met the trq spec - and in this case of a broken bolt, it would have just spun freely (with no click) and you could have saved yourself 5 other bolts.

You probably already learned that the hard way - but just in case, make sure you do it next time.

go to the dealer and buy new bolts/studs. If it's a stud, you're going to have to figure out how to remove the broken one. There are products like ez out that can grab and remove broken bolts if you can't get a vice grip on them etc...

FIY, these little studs are small and thin. And it's put into an aluminum manifold. the torque values aren't going to be that high.

When working on cars, a little common sense goes a long way. Take your time, read the instructions carefully and have fun.

Put it this way, if you can get though this, you probably have done more than 75% of the general public and probably 40-50% of the people here.
