Re: What is CAI

The G35 comes already equipt with a CAI whose inlet is mounted at the highest pressure point.......the oem filter is fully exposed to the air pressure and viewable.

When you make and sell CAI or just pipes or air filters or cheapo cats you must stretch the truth that yours is BIGGER or BETTER than oem otherwise you won't sell any and your family will starve after you get fired.

The entire industry depends on the fact that most are uneducated in technology and will buy anything if it cost less than $200 [even $500] in HOPES of it being true.

Re: What is CAI

What he said. In the case of the G35 a "CAI" is simply a filter and tube replacement. I for one don't believe changing the filter is worth whatever gains may be had. Oiled filters have to be cleaned and oiled periodically. Some rely on the oil itself for the filtration. I've screwed up a MAF on my Audi by over oiling an aftermarket filter (my fault, I know, but it's just another thing to fuss with).

A CAI has more relevance to a car with an intake design that is inferior to the G35, which may be prone to absorbing more engine heat due to its location.

What I've decided to do is install the Z tube and see what that does for me. If I really need to change the filter, then I'll look at those options.

Re: What is CAI

The open space around the lower grille is the highest pressure point, the oem intake inlet path is not unobstructed, you've got the hood lip and the wide bladed center grill in the way, both reduce flow/pressure. I support the logic of the oem system, but one can catch higher pressure air , with nothing to interupt the flow from the openings around the license plate. providing you have a way to catch it for pressurization. NT engineering places their brake duct cooling system inlets down their for good reason.

Re: What is CAI

i have a ztube and popcharger because i read a lot about the two and feel that they probably have the same gains as one another. I like the p/c because when i pop my hood i can point to it and people are like OOO thats looks like something good haha instead of pointing to a bunch of plastic like on a regular g35.

2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. soon to have 19" volk gt-c's and PIAA xtreme whites in the clearance and corners
