06 Coupe Idle issues

Hey all.... first post.

I am thinking about buying a 06 G35 Coupe with 38k miles on it. When I test drove the car it had some idle issues. When cruising at about 40 mph and you take your foot off the gas, it would drop the idle to 200 rpm and then sometimes kill the engine. The used car dealer took it back to Infiniti today (still under warranty) to get the issue looked at and fixed.

My question is... is this a common/known problem? If the issue is fixed by Infiniti I don't see a reason not to purchase the car. It has 38k miles on it so still 32k left for the powertrain warranty. Any thoughts?

'06 with 38k miles.. seems good unless abused. if the dealer finds a problem and fixes it test drive it again and if all goes well you should have urself a new G =]

it's probably a dirty MAF sensor or CAI that's causing the low idling.. if they clean the sensor, it should work good as new.. just make sure you test drive it a couple more times and have a mechanic look at it just to make sure it's not a bigger issue the dealer is trying to push under your nose

Will do. I don't think the used car lot is trying to do that. They knew of the problem and were going to take it into the Infiniti dealer for warranty repair on Monday anyway.

I'd just be cautious about a larger problem that could pop up down the road that could be the cause of the idling issue. Was the car 100% stock? did you look under the hood? did it have an aftermarket intake?

Everything was 100% stock. Hpoefully the dealer finds what it was and it is something simple.
