1 year oil change???

I just inquired to my local Jacksonville Infiniti dealer asking when I have to bring my G35 in for it's oil change...

It's about a month overdue BUT I have only done around 2000 miles in the 4 1/2 months since the last oil change (Synthetic)...

To my surprise the lady said I could leave it until up to one year so long as I hadn't gone over 3750 miles...Can this be true?

Will my warranty still be good...

Please confirm!

Thanks

no no no!!

oil has a life span measured in time, not just miles. especially when your typically take short trips without allowing a full, complete warm up.

you mentioned you're running synthetic. I wouldnt go more than 5 months or 5000 miles on mobil 1.

one year is absurd. dont neglect your vehicle. keep the oil fresh - change it regularly.

also - dont skimp on the oil filter. fram is garbage.

Per the Service Manual you can wait up to 12 months. However, I change mine every 3 months even if I haven't driven more than 3,000 miles

Thanks for the replies, I'll probably do it around 6 months, I take it to Infiniti so I have no warranty issues!

BTW mine is Twilight Blue
I picked up those almost new OEM chrome rims for $300 on CL!

Save yourself some money and take it to Nissan if you must take it to the dealer for service.

One year should be ok, but I would play it safe and change every 6-9 months.

Mercedes uses Mobil 1 and BMW uses Castro and their oil change intervals are about 1 year or 1x,xxx miles.

OEM 05-06 G Sedans. This is the second time I've seen them.

They are OEM, but they were not stock. 17" chrome wheels were an option on 05 and 06 sedans.

Really? Got proof of this? If he hasn't really driven that far, then chances are he hasn't really driven it that much either. Short trips are harder but the ONLY way is to have the oil tested.

you mentioned you're running synthetic. I wouldnt go more than 5 months or 5000 miles on mobil 1.
Again proof? Again oil analysis is the only way to determine how your engine is treating the oil

Running Amsoil is just fine so how is that neglect?

also - dont skimp on the oil filter. fram is garbage.
You should quantify your statments. NORMAL frams aren't built that well. Some of the more expensive ones are actually okay. Although I use Napa Golds myself.

BTW $300 for chrome oems with good tires is a steal. Some people don't want/need 20" blingtastic sized wheels.
