It is a good deal, but personally I couldn't stand all that shine.

I like "blingtastic". I just got Coupe 18's and those look more than fine to me. If I upgrade again, it will be to 19" OEM Rays. I can't think of a bigger waste of money than spending thousands of dollars on a set of wheels, especially when there are excellent used OEMs available.

That's why I run them: These are just as light (if not lighter) than the way more expensive Volks etc..

BTW these are the 245-40s but my new ones are just about identical:

Again proof? Again oil analysis is the only way to determine how your engine is treating the oil

Running Amsoil is just fine so how is that neglect?

You should quantify your statments. NORMAL frams aren't built that well. Some of the more expensive ones are actually okay. Although I use Napa Golds myself.

Why so hostile... pwebb is 100% Correct. Oil changes are measured in time and/or distance by manufacturers of you know...the engines. AMSOIL synthetic is really good stuff and you are probably fine going 6 months or 6000 miles.

I think that in order to keep your warranty current, you must take it for oil changes about every 6 months (check infiniti's website for the exact details).

The oil changes don't really cost that much (about $50), so it's really a drop in the bucket to keep your car running smooth as well as prolonging the life of your car.

^^ Maintenance Manual states 3,750 miles or 12 months. Whichever comes first. Covered already in this thread

The only way I'd adhere to Infiniti's schedule is to maintain the warranty. If not, then oil analysis is the only way to accurately determine.

Amsoil depending on the model can/and does go way over 6000 miles. Try triple that depending on how the analysis goes.

So... you would advise someone to get an UOA every 3-6 months to determine if they need to change their oil or not rather than just...changing it.

Depends. What oil are you running? Which filter? Does one have an interest in extended oil change intervals? Does one have an interest in the condition of their engine?

So the answer is "depends"

Just looking at how dirty your oil is after 3 or 4 months of use is hardly a way to tell if your oil needs changing. Like mentioned earlier, an oil analysis will give you a pretty good idea to see how the oil properties are breaking down based on your individual driving habits. Once you have that, you can estimate when you need to change your oil if you decide not to follow manufacturers recommendations.

Anyone figured why Nissan says 3,750 miles, or what oil they used to base their recommendation? Are all oils created equal? If not I would think you can go well beyond 3750 if you were using the best synthetic oil ( i don't know which is best). Personally I use Mobil 1 syn and i change 5,000 / 5mnths. I have never gotten my oil tested either so I could be waiting too long or be able to go further than i am now.

Actually supertech has tested out to be decent dino oil. The article mentions the oil light going on. Most likely low oil pressure from low oil level. Running low oil levels would also account for the engine to sieze or fail.

so while running 30k on teh same oil/filter is way stupid, I'm not too sure what it specifically has to do with this subject.

Read the warranty booklet and Nissan recomendation that for maximum engine life, oil should be replaced at 90 days or 3,750 miles.

Only you care whether engine lasts beyond warranty, new car dealers sure don't as they are in business of selling NEW CARS. Why should anyone help/care if cars last longer. This is how the US/World auto industry got in the present fix -- cars lasting too long!

warranty + company covering their ***** = very conservative oil change frequency. Although almost 4k isn't too bad.

But hinting that not adhering to that schedule necessarily shortens engine life w/o quantifing that statement with specific products isn't prudent

If by "covering their asses" you mean they don't wont to fix any problems that occur due, or not due to not following specified oil change intervals... than yes.
