New owner...have some questions about oil consumption

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say that I'm happy to family join the G club. I bought a 2005 6MTc with 34k miles on it, single owner. I'm a previous owner of a Honda s2000, and I decided to make the switch to a bigger, more luxurious car and this was definitely the right one.

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to make this thread but, I have a few questions regarding warranty and the REV-UP OC issue.

I purchased the car approximately 4 days ago at a Mitsubishi Dealership listed a used vehicle. It comes with a 30-day limited warranty where I pay 50% of applied labor/parts charges, if anything goes wrong within that time period. My question is, I'm really concerned about the oil consumption issue that many people on this forum seem to have had, whether recently or in the past, and I was curious as to how warranty works. Should I go back to the dealership that I bought it from to have the OC issue checked out? Or do I need to visit any Infiniti dealership and provide proof of purchase for them to check it out? As of now, the car is 4 years old and I'm not sure if any warranty is still valid on the car...I guess I should have done more research before I purchased it.

Again, I apologize if this is the wrong place to put it but, I'm really concerned and I thought it best to start here. Any input greatly appreciated, thanks.

4yr/60k bumper to bumper
6yr 70k powetrain

go to a infiniti dealer and have them do a oil consumption test. what happens is they check your oil, then tell you to come back after 1000 miles and recheck oil. Dealer will have you come back about 3 times or so to make sure. if oil is lost you will get a new block under warranty.

Nonsense, you can do this yourself. Check the oil level, drive your car for a month and see if it's using oil. Odds are you won't have any issues with oil consumption. Drive your new car and enjoy what a quality coupe feels like.... One more thing, when it's time to change oil use a quality oil like Mobil 1 5W/30 and their filter too that'll keep her purring like a kitten for the next 100K miles. (change oil every 4K miles)

What do you mean odds are? I've know a few people with G coupes 05 and 06 and they all have this oil consumption issue.

I'm just trying to understand, is it just a luck of the draw that they bought their G's with this problem, or is it a problem that is bound to happen?

Not to thread crap..but I just got my G35 coupe serviced today and I got my 2005 G a few weeks ago and the Infiniti service tech said I only have a 4yr bumper to bumper warranty on my car. Is it 4 or 6 like stated above?
