Does anyone have aftermarket cams on their G? I'm thinking about getting some, I just need to know the pros and cons from people who already have them. Thanks

 

Pros:
More torque and HP.

Cons:
$1200 for the cam and another $1200 to install.

Check Jim Wolf Technologies or Nismo. Crawford has one in development and I believe Stillen may as well.

Depending on duration, lift, etc. you may sacrifice driveability and idle. A "mild" cam will give you 10 HP and a nice smooth addition in one of 3 or 2 of 3 places on the power band (low, mid, high). An "aggresive" cam may deliver far more TQ somewhere on the band and cause your car to "lope" at idle and deliver tons of power in part of the band at the expense of driveability or gas mileage.

For over $2500 installed I never saw the point. (for the bang for the buck factor anyway)

dont forget that just cause you bought cams and paid for installation... you still need to spend mone to tune and to get your ECU upgraded.

and ... not sure if this is part of the package... but you might need some new valve springs.

2500 for 15 hp (assuming that this claim by vendor IS correct) just seems a little dumb. I mean everyone loves adding a couple of extra ponies, and i guess if i had f/i and all the thigns that i realy wanna do to my car and had 2500 burning a whole in my pocket.... well... thats never gonna happen haha
