Mileage

I just got my car yesterday, I've put 400 some-odd miles on it already. Took it on a nice shakedown cruise to know my car. My MPG is 26.7 80/20 highway/local. Plus I live in NYC, is that normal? I usually see people complain about this and have even below 15. *shrugs

Lucidazn:

You'll find that the mileage will vary in direct correlation to how often, and how much, you depress the "loud" pedal.

Have fun!

Re: Milage

Through my own calculation, I've gotten 25-26 highway at about 75mph, and I get 16-17 mostly city driving.

Re: Milage

With mostly city driving and driving agressively I get 16 to 17 mpg. Thats calculated when I fill up. Using the navigation mpg is not accurate at least in my experience.

Re: Milage

My Navi system's mileage calculations have been 100% accurate from comparing it to manual calculations; I'm still getting about 17-18 mpg city / 23 mpg highway.

Re: Milage

I calculated my gas mileage from my vacation finally.

I drove a total of 4461 km (2772 miles) using 470 litres (124 US gal) for the trip.

Mileage average for the trip came out to using 10.56 litres/100 km (22.3 mpg or [26.8 mpg in the old imperial system]). This was in combined driving on highways usually at 120 to 130 km/hr (75 - 80 mph), and of course, a lot of sight-seeing and slower traffic and the ups and downs of some of the mountain roads.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the mileage, and the G performed flawlessly.

Re: Milage

I just filled my coupe's tank for the 3rd time this morning. This last tank was the worst mileage I've gotten. Though it was with rather erratic throttle inputs to aid break-in. 13 is what I calculate and the Navi says 13.9.

I pulled off 16.9 on the way to work which is pretty good.

As far as driving conservatively, doing so too much can actually hurt gas mileage in the city. Accelerating slowly to get up to speed causes you to have to load the engine for a longer period of time in a lower gear. Accelerating moderately to the desired speed so you can get into the higher gears sooner usually results in slightly better gas mileage though.

I hope mine does go up though as it finishes breaking in. I drove my turbo 240sx hard and that got 15 mpg average. And it made about the same power as the G coupe.

Re: Milage

It doesn't seem to make any difference how I drive (conservative or agressive), I can't get better than 12-13 in the stop and go to and from work (6 miles each way). I'll get around 22 when freeway (expressway) driving. I think it sucks.
