Clutch-Starter safety feature location?

I disabled this feature about a month ago. I unplugged the plug from the button under the clutch pedal, then put a staple in the plug to connect the circuit. Has been working without any issues for over a month now.
This morning the car started, I drove to work. Then when I went to lunch, the car won't turn over. I plugged the plug back into the button, pushed the button and turned the key, won't turn over.
Thanks to the manual transmission gods, you don't need a starter to get a manual trans car started
I checked the fuses by the battery, all are ok. What do I check next?
