Bottomed out -- something is leaking ...

Hi,

the other day I hit a big bump on the road (car is lowered) somewhere a bit to the right from the middle of the underengine area (I think ...). Something was leaking after that -- and it looks to me that it is just the washer fluid.

Please give me your word of advise -- what could have happened and what is the right thing to do. What could have been broken to cause the leak?
What else should I check for damages?

I am planning to take a car to a mechanic.

Thanks

Is it coming from the area to the left of your passenger side wheel? If so, then that is actually normal. It is your AC lines and they are condensing and water will always drip off of them in the summer. Personally I doubt you bottoming out will damage anything if you did it just one time (I've bottomed out all over my car at least 100-200 times) its also impossible to hit the actual engine as your wheels are in the way. Take a picture where it is coming from and I can tell you if its the AC or not.

Back in the day when I had a 86' Cavalier Z24 I went over an intersection and all but jumped it, then bottomed out. I stopped right after and was spraying oil all over the ground. I grabbed a bar of soap and rubbed it on the hole to slow the leak and then drove home pouring 5 quarts through the motor to get it home. Not a good feeling

Bring your car up. The HKS sits low, I had it slammed. It tore the flex pipes up. You either need to get bigger tires or bring the car up. Bigger tires works great for me, I don't scrape on anything.

On the rear I have 285/35/19 and on the front 255/35/19.

The rear tires is what helped the most. The larger profile on the tire made the car sit almost an inch taller than my previous size.

No matter how low your car is, your motor hitting the ground is unlikely. Reason being is the front sway bar sits lower than the oil pan and would hit first. Secondly, if your that low that your pan would hit the ground, your wheels would bottom out and hit the top of the fender.

I doubt you have a oil leak. If you have a leak, see what color it is. Itll tell you

+1. If t here is a leak, it will have color.

Touch the fluid, texture will tell you what types of fluid it could be also.

The oil pan is protected as mentioned above by the sway and front tires. If you have a 5AT the transmission pan is wide open for damage though! It's pink and smells so you can't really mistake it for something else.
