Re: Electrical pro's, I need you help?

It's likely going to be a point in the electrical system that is common to each of these components that are not working. The fuse is obviously the first place to look but you said you already checked it. It would probably be more helpful if you had a FSM or wiring diagram so you can look for common sources. Check the operation of every component on the car. If there is anything else that is not working, it may go back further than a fuse. Check your fusible links as well.

Interesting you as about "fusable links"? My understanding is that they do not use fusable links on newer model cars? Do you have any idea where the fusable links would be? I would think they are accessible, but where? Thanks for your help!

I thought of doing just that! Talke it to the dealer and tell them I just noticed the dome lights do not work, I might give that a shot, but I really don't like doing things like that.....call me a prude!

Thank you to everyone here that is trying to help me out! I still have no lights and am really frustrated, it just makes no sense? I have installed a radar detector in a dozen cars in just this manner and NEVER had a problem, I just don't know what the heck it could be!!!!!!

OK, I haven't done much research as I have my own car troubles.... but while working on my car today I did find that there are actually 3 fuse boxes.
1. In the drivers kick panel.
2. Right in front of the battery
3. Behind the battery on the firewall

The one on the firewall has a big square cover on it, and its a bitch to get to.

Great, I will have a look tomorrow? I wonder why they do not mention that fuse box in the manual? If there is a fuse in there for the dome lights, I will really have to ask what engineering came up with that one? I hope it is there at the same time!

Oh, I hate to say this, but I forgot to mention it earlier, I read all the names of the fuses, thinking of this thread, and none of them seemed like they would control anything on the inside of the vehicle, but its still worth a shot.

Re: Electrical pro's, I need you help?

check if your taillights down't work either.

I had a similar problem. Somehow I blew a fuse while trying to tap into the ash tray light, and my ignition ring, center console, taillights, etc went out.

See my thread for what I did to solve it:

Any updates? Sounds like it might be the "tail lamps" fuse according to CryHavoks thread.

Re: Electrical pro's, I need you help?

Well, I just checked and my tail lamps work as well as the brake lamps. Front clearance lights work, glovebox light works. The lights that are out are:

Dome and map lights
ignition ring light
both vanity visor lights
both door lights

Car goes to the dealer today, I am just baffled by this whole thing!

I forgot to mention that I found a TSB this morning for interior lighting not working. I noted the TSB # 02081, and will mention that when I drop the car off today?

While I am at it, I will have the following done:

Rear end clicking noise fixed
Grease streaks on the windows fixed
Look into excessive condensation moisture while running A/C?
Driver window air seal leak at speed?

Re: Electrical pro's, I need you help?

roadracer: I have not checked the G, but my 98 240sx had it. They are not the same design as older cars(a wire that burns up with too much current). They are more like big fuses. They look like a small box and has a clear plastic window on top so you can view the link itself. If you do check this it's a good idea to pull it out and tap on it with your finger as you look at the link through the window as they can burn ou on the side of the link where you can't see the break. Tapping on it if it has a break will cause the link to vibrate inside. They are usually located in the main engine fusebox. There are usually several of them. But again, I haven't checked mine so who knows.

Don't forget about the squeaky sunroof and the passenger side seatbelt rattle. These things really are sleds aren't they?

Re: Electrical pro's, I need you help?

Tustin Infiniti is a good choice, although only my first service experience with Infiniti, I am VERY impressed!

Dropped off my car yesterday at 5:30pm, they had a G35 sedan loaner waiting. I went down the list of problems and they fixed each and everyone one of them and had the car done by 2pm today! That is pretty cool, here is a list of what they did:

Fixed interior lights (my fault they were not working)
replaced door stoppers to stop the grease streaks on both doors
fixed the rear axle clicking
replaced ambient temp sensor for interior temp guage
adjusted the hand brake
reset the "service engine soon" light and NAV malfunction display (that was my fault by the way)
replaced driver side door weather stripping
fixed the sqeaky sunroof
installed fog/hi beam lights I provided (Silvervisions)

Cost to me= $0.00

PS: I have a friend that works in the parts department there, I think that is why I was not charged for the bulb install!
