Now getting back to the origional install.....

Just use a relay triggered by the cigarette lighter to power your radar d.. The relay draws next to 0 amps so you will not blow a fuse=)

The draw of the radar dectecor should be somewhat close to the draw of a relay, under 100mA. If you use a relay off of the cigarette lighter you will still need a constant source of 12VDC, which you would most likey get from the ignition harness. It would be easier to just use the Accessory wire in the ignition harness that goes to the keyswitch - its only on when the car is on. Just remember, FUSE it!

So, what was wrong with the car and how did they fix it?

Point taken. However, the V1 sucks up 1/2 amp when the bells and whistles are blowin. Not enough to pop a fuse but enough to make ya think about it when you start adding more switched power components.

As I originally thought and after WAY too many hours looking for an interior light fuse or other reasonable explanation, they said all they did was "reset" the computer. which tells me that the guy that said to disconnect the battery was probably right? I really figured it was more than that, but that also tells you I am not up to par with modern auto wiring and fusing!

How can I pull power from inside the dome light area in order to power the radar detector? I do not want to pull directly from the fuse box as recommended by the tech at Infiniti, WAY too much wire to have to run?

Thanks alot for all the help, I sure wish I could have fixed it myself, but lesson learned..............or maybe not knowing me!

The cigarette lighter is switched (only on when the car is on) power. Use those wires=)
