Re: Engine cover panting?

Use a high temperature paint... It also needs to stick to flexible plastic. You may need to primer it, but some people just use the high temp paint.

Re: Engine cover panting?

I used Dupli color paint from Autozone. I did 2 coats of primer on the area I was painting and taped off the outer area w/ masking tape. After the primer dried totally I used 3 coats of paint being very careful to keep my distance so not to get any runs in the paint. I removed the emblem by using a hair dryer and peeling it very slowly before I painted. After the paint was set up to my satisfaction I put 3 coats of clear coat on let dry and re-installled.

Good Luck with your project.

Re: Engine cover panting?

I was going to contact ZPresence from the forums over on 350zfrenzy.com... he works in an automotive paint shop and owns a 350z... he's made a good side job out of doing the engine covers for Z drivers.... his work is pricey but top notch....

he'll do any factory color or custom mix that you'd like... check out this huge thread about his work...

ZPresence's Painted 350z Engine Covers

i attached one of the pics of his custom work above... also PS i don't work for him or anything i just think his work is awesome

Orange and pink? LOL! If you like it, go for it. Post pics though. Interested to see how it turns out.

Re: Engine cover panting?

Interesting... but what color is your G? Will your color scheme look good? Do you just want to do the engine cover or do you also want to do the battery cover?

Just find a place that has Dupli-Color Engine enamel and high heat paint. They have limited colors though:

If you don't like their colors, then you will have to get something custom made from paintscratch.com. Just give them a paint code for the color you want, and order a can of clearcoat from them with "FLEX" added in. Don't forget the primer for optimum results.

Doesn't that yellow dipstick and stickers drive you crazy. Man I couldn't take it, I sprayed the dipstick and scraped those stickers off and I felt much better.
