N/a build cost V FI

Im just curious as what the difference in cost is between the two and what kind of HP gains you can get. If I was looking at getting around 400whp what would the better route be and would I have to upgrade tranny. BTW 2004 coupe 5at. I see some prefer n/a build why others just go FI is one better for the car. thanks Srry for noob question

So your saying if you build the entire block with cams and everything else you cant get close to that or just cost way to much

^^ you wont get close I am pretty sure. People who built up their engines on 350z are putting down 300 whp if I remember correctly and it costs the same as FI.

Stroker kit, you can get as much power as SC/FI. and just think, you can then go FI on top of that...

And the cost? for SC look to spend around 7-8K to get it done right with tuning, etc.

i think the 4.2L stroker kit is around $10-12K. SC is gonna be around 7-8K. Single turbo between $8-10K. TT is gonna be around $10-12K.

Assuming you have someone else do all the work.

Costs can go up and beyond that....you can probably save a little here and there as well. Just a rough estimate from what I've seen.

I'm staying NA and adding a stroker as we speak with a pletora more of upgrades/custom work and I wishing and praying hard for getting 400whp on the dyno I use. That would be 180whp over stock on the same dyno. It's for sure not cost effective at all if your goal is to get close to 400whp.

If you only spend 8-12k and staying NA you won't get very close to 400whp. 12k will only get you to the point of having the stroker kit installed, then you'll have to tack on the supporting mods to reach your goals. Where as a SC or Turbo kit will get there or close to it from just the kit alone.

So why do people choose to do a N/A build then if they can get same power or more for same amount of money or is it they plan on adding FI later on for max power

Is this all being ca smog legal and on 91 octane? Good luck. Porsche's GT# 3.8 liter motor puts out 435 hp at the crank. And they twist their motors to 7,600 rpm and use 12.0 compression.

What's your build plans?

I built up a naturally aspirated car and turbo charged it, granted it didnt have the support that the G has it still never ran right. Once you make a car forced induction it becomes a high strung high maintenance car that is always needing something. Keeping the car n/a like it came from the factory is alot less headaches. This is why I think people want to go the n/a route. More money, less power, but less headaches...

This is going to be tuned mainly for 91.

Since you brought up the GT3, my car will have the same piston size but will have longer stroke. My compression ratio will only be at 11.0. If you want more details then you can go here.
