Tune up...
Had the day off, decided to do some maintenance on the G.
Replaced the spark plugs and even at 100,000kms, was surprised at how deteriorate the electrodes of the original (assuming) platinums were.

I've never been a fan of Platinums so I replaced them with the Iridium versions
(LFR5AIX-11). The pictured plug is about average out of the 6. Cyl. 1 and 3 had the worst electrodes and were extremely short compared to the rest.
Cleaned the throttle body, although it didnt really require any attention, replaced the PCV valve since the dealer had one in stock, put a k&n in with the z-tube, replaced belts and reset the ecu. Swapped oil/fiter and Gear 300'd the tranny. Had no more gear 300 in stock so i'll do the diff on the weekend.
The car seemed to run perfect before, but it really is running a hell of a lot smoother now. Throttle responce is noticeably quicker and all around, the motor seems happier. I've only had the car for 2k and don't know what fuel the PO used, but i've run 92-94 since i've had it and I thought it ran great.
If your anywhere near 60/100k, replace the plugs if you haven't.
Has anybody else noticed electrods that far gone in 60/100k?

I need to do my plugs also. Nice info. But I wish you didn't replace the air filter before you made your evaluation. A nice clean new airfilter does make a difference.
But I think I'll do plugs and the PVC also to make sure I'm getting the most out of my recent TS reflash.

thats about what mine looked like (at ~52k) although it looks like the tip of the electrode on yours is gone. i had some scorched insulator which i think is from advanced timing. the car runs waayy smoother with the iridiums
How long to do the plugs, was it a B of a job?
And where do you get 94 in Calgary? Not planning to run it, just curious.

All Husky and Mohawks have 94. Husky's for sure, all the mohawks on my route at least. I realy shouldnt bother though; without a tune, your not making it worth while. I just ran it in my subaru so i'm used to it.
Plugs aren't a b at all. The coil under the throttle body is the worst, but a telescopic magnet and long extensions make it a quick job. Probably took a little over a half hour.

it took me less than an hour, the annoying thing is the harness that runs around the engine right over the coils. you should look into ngk iridiums if youre looking to change your plugs
