It will probably take about the same amount of money to get a honda in the 12's as it would a g35/350z. If you are talking about the s2000 then they are about the same. mildly modded s2000's ran slower than what i ran at the track before i was FI. modded civics: not even close.
WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT?

Look what it did with the VQ37 compared to the VQ35 without it. More power and less gas... WIN WIN aint it?

It will not take 10k to mod a B series motor to make it hit 12s. A fully built K24-then yes.

no, people act like it's something only honda has or it's some sort of boost. It's just variable valve timing. It's seriously nothing new but since they put a label on it and put the stamp on the back of the car all the kiddies think it's some sick technology.

and it doesn't take close to 10 grand to get a 350z/g35 in the 12's. I haven't seen a b series or h series without series mods (nitrous, turbo) that is pulling 12's at the strip.

check out the na builds and "top 1/4 mile times" on my350z. there is a local built h22a civic here that didn't touch my g35 when it was n/a and upgrades. He had well over what i had into upgrades and i walked him easily.

our motor is called VQ35 not QV35

kids do talk about vtec as if it were some sort of FI.
I dunno why Honda slaps vtec badges all over their cars as if it were a special model but its just variable valve timing.

lets ask this question again... How many 12 sec 350zs/Gs hit 12s spent less than 10k and how many spent more? The DIY guys are gonna be cheaper since they didnt pay anyone for labor like most would.

and h22s arent the motors most honda guys work on due to its weight.

Honda designed VTEC for better gas efficiency. that plus their reliability are their selling points-They want to point it out as often as possible.

My stock '98 Honda Accord, with its VTECH engine, was EASILY hitting 12's.

0-60MPH that is . . .

There's V-tec, Valvetronic, VANOS, Double VANOS, VCT, Ti-VCT, i-VTEC, VVT, VVT-iE, VVEL (on the VQ37VHR) . VarioCAM, VVT-i, etc etc etc..... Every manufacturer has a few different versions these days.

Alfa Romeo did it first in a production car in 1980.

i didn't have close to 10 grand into my G when i was NA. Head over to that thread and look at the n/a times. they list their mods so you can see what people are putting into the car.

i'm not sure what import drag racers you know but the h22 is used quite a bit. They have way more torque than the b series motor and are over 200hp stock.
