Naturally Aspirated... Can the QV35 ever be like a V-tech?

Hi All,

Can the QV35 ever be like a Honda V-tech (12 second q-mile) NA engine??

Or am I wasting my time and jump straight on the Turbo sneezing Bandwagon... which I don't mind at all.

Yell out if you've made any miraculous NA gains!

Cheers,

Bourbon Boy

You better have a flame suit on. I had a friend just mention the v word and they bashed him all over the place. The v stuff works by adjusting timing for better power gain at certain setpoint via rpm curve. So there is a similar feel to it when you are running a piggyback on your ecu. A utech actually feels like the v stuff while transitioning from stock ecu to programmed utech. Some people dont like that though. Hope that helps mike

Thanks RPM...

Yeah that was one of my first guesses as one of the first steps is to play the the ECU... along with internals and breathing etc.

Sorry - Wont mention the V word again. hehe.
Was just curious to see if I can get my 2004 coupe to be a 12 sec NA. And if anyone on this site has achieved anything like it.

Over on my 350z they have ducked into the 12's. No one has on here yet. There may be some in the country they just havent posted on the times yet. Look in the top 25 on the drags thread. I know of 4 300plus hp builds but those guys have spent nutty money getting there ( and im talking 10k-14k to achieve those numbers on just motor work). But the strang thing is those guys dont drag, 3 of them road race. Look on my350z for na builds there are a ton of them over there. later mike

You don't need mods. Do this.

The honda is really light. If you can drop a good 700 pounds you'd get into the 12's pretty easily. But, you'd lose all the quality for driving.

I have a friend who's pushing 294 whp and 306 tq. He might be in the 12's. He hasn't done anything to his car...stock. Nobody will believe that though.

v-tec is just variable valve timing. I don't know why people think this is some badass technology. Almost every manufacturer has some sort of variable valve timing. BMW has used vvti or whatever they call it since the 80's.

It will probably take about the same amount of money to get a honda in the 12's as it would a g35/350z. If you are talking about the s2000 then they are about the same. mildly modded s2000's ran slower than what i ran at the track before i was FI. modded civics: not even close.
