Cams???
Ok i want to stay na because going supercharded or turbo is just to expensive for my blood. Any way i have a ram intake, headers, test pipes, tru dule exhast, underdrive pullys, plenum spacer, tb spacer, grounding kit and voltage stablizer pretty much all the bolt ons i could find lol i have a turboxs utec also is it worth me spending the 1200 on cams? Will i see any gains worth my money.
Thanks

there are gains, but not worth the price - if you want details about what performance you might expect read this thread:

but I figure cams = 1200 or so
Install = $1500 or so
Tune = $200 (if you have engine management already) - $500-$1K if not
so maybe 3K-3.5K?....
Obviously exact pricing depends on what parts, what engine management, and what shop/install method is used... but I think 2K is pretty low... that's a pretty good deal and I'd be inclined to recommend getting cams for that price (if that was the total).

I had headers installed at same time (crawford which are a pita)... so I dont know how much cams only would have been

The infiniti service says 8hrs ($75/hr) for cam replacement and updating my Osiris tune was one additional hour off labor. I'm surprised your install was so expensive, that is almost how much I am paying in labor for an entire engine/drivetrain swap.

Wow, that's really expensive.

However, I'll still state that $2000 (as you quoted) for cam install is a bargain... and apparenly you are getting an entire engine swap for that price which is totally unheard of... if you're not aware of your good fourtune, you should check around...
Yes, Crawford headers are a tight squeeze... I wish there was room for heat shields - then ppl wouldn't pose with vented hoods and fake fender vents

^ I can see why your install was expensive if they replaced all those parts. It's basically pulling out and opening the entire longblock. Normally no one will ever have to pull the entire engine out to do a cam install since they are easily exposed from the top. I had multiple places quote me the same amount of labor for the cam install and it's always 8hrs (they get it straight from the infiniti estimated labor worksheet).
The entire engine swap labor fee is ~$2000, which is basically the installation of a drop-in longblock. It's not too far off what most shop will charge, Infiniti themselves charges about the same. Remember since this is an engine swap, we are just talking about the swap fee and not the building or replacing of internals at all. The work that you had done is even more extensive then mine, so sounds like you got a great deal for $1500. The header labor in your case should practically be free since they already charge you for pulling the engine out, from that point on it's literally a very simple bolton mod literally no more then 5minutes.
What's the reason for you to only replace the rod bolts and not the pistons or the rods? Everything is apart already and the labor is paid for.
