Strange Problem

I'm out of warranty so I'm hoping someone on this forum might have an idea of what is wrong with my 04 G35 Coupe.

This problem started not long after I had the battery and brakes changed. Whenever I drive somewhere and turn off the ignition, then try starting the car again, the car will not go into idle. I have to press on the gas to force it to go into a very low idle state. Now, If I wait for a few hours after I last shut off the engine, the car will start again without any problems. Even, if I try it multiple times, it will always start fine. It's only when I drive somewhere, turn off the engine and don't wait long enough before trying to start the car again that the problem will occur.

I spoke to a mechanic on the phone and he didn't think a defective battery would cause this problem. I also had a fuel injection cleaning service done and it didn't fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

is your car idling low?

it sounds like a vacuum leak to me. could be a PCV valve gone bad?

After driving the car and turning off the engine, it will idle low on the next start (I have to apply gas to make it even idle). But if I wait a couple hours before starting the engine, it will idle normal without me having to apply gas.

it should have nothing to do with the battery..just a coincidence on the timing

On a cold start, the engine applies more gas (higher rpms) to begin with. On a warm start the car wants to idle normally. This is where you seem to be having the problem.

I'm guessing that you have a dirty MAF or throttle body.

How many miles do you have on your car?
