Thumbs down Soooo if we have LSD (well I do), why do we have ABLS?!

LSD = limited slip differential (mechanical)

ABLS = active brake limited slip (electrical)

Why, if a car (such as mine), is equipped with a mechanical limited slip, do I need an electronic limited slip?! No wonder when I try to take off I sound like a fwd car skimming off the line. I want to screech off the line the way rwds should. ABLS is a working system part of the VDC, however with VDC off, ABLS is still on, unless you disable the actual harness. How do these systems even work together properly, I'd imagine them to be in a constant tug of war. Or that situation where you're facing someone and wish to go right, then they go in that direction, so you go in the other, and then they go in the other, and no one really gets anywhere. What a crock, what's with the overkill nissan/infiniti?!

ABLS is part of the traction control system. Its for safety reasons.

It says in the manual it only works on the drive wheels, to limit the slip. That's exactly what a mechanical LSD does...

The stock limited slip sucks in comparison to the aftermarket options available

The drive wheels get limited only when the limits get pushed to a specific degree...which the LSD obviously isn't keeping it under if you are getting ABLS.

You might not, but most people probably choose safety over driver control

You have to remember the car is designed for the "masses" not for the guys who want maximum performance. All of the electronic correction is to keep the old geezers from ending up in the ditch - and for that - it is very effective.

Yeah, and thats nice and all, but I think they should have included the ABLS feature as the features to be 'shut off' when I hit the VDC off button.

I think there's a module in the console box, just disconnect that, but it disconnects ABS as well, no biggie. Just a hassle.

There is a module in the middle console. Many have wired a switch to it. Although you can turn it off, you can't turn it back on without turning off the car then back on.

I agree with you though, there should be multiple settings. Push once just for VDC off, push twice for VDC & ABLS off, push once more and they go back on.
