Engine stall at start up?

O.K.

So I just installed my Kinetix plenum to go with the Kinetix cats, along with the other mods I've done. Now it seems that every now and then (last couple of days) when I go to start the car, it will do it's normal start rev and then just die. I don't know what to make of it. I know that with the light weight pullies and flywheel, the engine decellerates very quickly and a few times dropped close to a stall. Maybe with the freer flowing intake and exhaust now it just drops too low. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Later,

Ray

Update: I cleaned my MAF with MAF cleaner and Also replaced my Air filter. NOTE: My MAF was not dirty at all, but I decided to clean it anyway. The car still will drop RPMs Almost to Stalling point when I start the car and the engine is already warmed up.

Im assuming that since the MAF is not dirty that the Throttle Body wont be dirty either so I did not bother taking the whole intake off to clean the throttle body.

Success at last. I cleaned the throttle body with MAF cleaner. At first Glance at the throttle body it was almost pitch black inside. I figured out that there should be a small 1/2mm Gap at the ends of the throttle circle itself and when Carbon Blocks that tiny gap - the car had difficulty being at idle- therefore it will be more prone to stall out. Now, THIS is key! . I DID NOT disconnect my throttle body from the sensor connector - Therefore I did not have to do any of the RELEARN procedures! After cleaning the Throttle body and bolting it back onto the intake manifold - I started the g35 up and . It was Puuurrrrfect! I also cleaned a little inside the Intake manifold itself due to it being very dirty at the inlet...

I think my car just did stall two time today at 2 different occasions, i noticed this immediately after i got gas in New jersey.
I think that guy put in regular gas grade 87 instead of 93 which i always use.

I crank it ,it stays on for 2 secs and dies, then second start it starts fine, but rpm's go low, the car shakes tiny bit and then the rpm's catch on and its all fine from then onwards.

There is no check engine light, i did not see any difference in power yet.

HELP!!!!!

Psyco - Read ,

Usually if you put 87 gas in your car the first time it wont Act any different right away... Clean your throttle body.

Thanks for your reply,
also adding to this is that, there is not check engine light and the computer is showing no codes.
How hard is it to clean the throttle body? any special tools that i would need?

Is it going to affect the car, if i just keep doing what i am doing " start the car, before the rpm's drop i give gas and then it stabilizes"

Thanks so much, also don't judge me on my screen name https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ray, I'm not sure if you're throwing any codes but I've had stalls at start up or full stops and it was always related to having either my upper plenum or intake tube off. Both times, the dealership or shop failed to torque the plenum down or connect the breather tube to the intake. Stalls at start up or erractic idle and also at full stop were related to a vacuum leak. I noticed you installed a Kinetix plenum, did you follow the torque pattern and specs for that plenum?

the guy in the video took the Entire throttle body off his G35.... Dont do this!

Just take the 4 allen key bolts off and the throttle body will come off. IT WILL BE STILL CONNECTED AT THIS POINT VIA wire (which is your sensor connection ) Clean your throttle body right in your engine bay....

^what's the issue with disconnecting the harness plug? I've done it twice in the last week and swapped out TB's this morning. You might have to reset your ECU but there's no reason not to disconnect if you have to remove it.
