The washer simply prevents the drain plug from coming loose. The washer or plug have nothing to do with having too much oil. IDK if its just me but I don't think the dipstick is very accurate on these cars, at least not mine, I'm always finding it hard to read these things. My dipstick read over full when the car was
like 3 qrts low.

The car holds 5 qts with a filter change. If I were you I'd take the time to drain the oil into a clean pan, then measure it back in. If you leave it sit for a while, you should easily be able to tell the oil level. Do you take the dipstick out, wipe it off, then put it back in again to check? Use a light if you have to.

I check the dipstick properly, usually 3 times in a row. For some reason, my car burns through oil quickly. No visible leaks and my dipstick currently reads over full. Yet I'm hearing my valves clicking under acceleration which means low oil. (according to the dealership) I'll be taking it back there shortly to see if they know whats going on. I do not have the rev-up engine.

you have to give it time to drain when checking oil. whether you just drove it or just filled it up with oil. wait a couple minutes then check the dipstick

i checked the dip stick 2 to 3 times and it was so overflowed at the exact spot.
i clean it, put it back in and then check the level. How many qts are recomended for 06 G35 coupe? i used mobile-1. I remember putting in 3.5 qts because it's 3.5 L engine.

Dude, are you for real? Do you really believe that the engine displacement of 3.5 Litters has anything to do with oil capacity? Check your owner's manual for fluid capacities. If you don't have a manual, you can download it from the Infiniti website.

ok..i just checked the owners manual and it says 5 qts. Maybe i thought that i had to put 3.5 qts so i did 1000miles ago. Then i can't have overflow on the dipstick right now. And putting in 2qts less can show u big difference, i think. I'm not hearing any clicking sound from the valve.
Hey is it ok to just ADD new engine oil to the old engine oil. I ran like 1000 miles, so i think the engine oil in there is pretty old..

adding new oil is perfectly fine.. and it'll "extend" the life of the old oil..

who, please slow down a ltttle and take your time to learn about your car. There are a lot of people on here that have mad knowledge about our cars, but you gotta listen and learn. Swivel had already answered the question you asked. Also, spend time to read your owner's manual cover to cover because it has a wealth of information that will answer most of your basic questions.

I get that you're young and very excited about your G and you should be. It's a great car. We don't mind helping out, but we're not going to spoon feed you either. I challenge you to read through this site, your owner's manual, and search for the answers you seek w/o posting on here for 30 days. After that time frame if you still have questions then post them up.

I gotta warn you though if they're silly and have been asked a million times before (ie. what is the best cai out there) you're going to get flamed and lose a lot of respect and credibility from the senior members of this forum.

Are you up to the challenge??
