Dynoed Tonight, 243.99 hp with a 13.8 a/f ?
Dynoed Tonight, 243.99 hp with a 13.8 a/f ?
On a dyno jet tonight at 83 degrees i got 4 runs in from this place in Ronkonkoma. They couldnt get a good enough lead to get my rpms all the way up to redline, so they had to do a power to speed comparison. They did get the rpms up to 5.75 to give to technosquare for tuning purposes but my a/f was as high as 14:1, getting a little better to like 13.6 towards 6k rpms. Is that normal with my mods??? Kinetix plenum and cats, u/r crank pulley, and stillen intake w\ the z tube.
I had 2 runs of 243.99 and 243.XX i do not have a scanner to post them yet, but i definatly am gaining power all the way on up to redline, there is no drop off what so ever to 112 mph which is the top of my 4th gear. The third and fourth runs were slightly lower, I'm guessing due to the engine heating up. Should i be happy with these results? Before i went there I said i wanted 245hp, I got 244 but the air fuel is almost 14:1. It is making me want to send my computer out tomorow..... But if my car is so lean now are they going to be able to extract more power out of it, becuase they need to richen it up, not lean it out???
By the way if anyone has a link to whatever thread from i forget what forum with the list of everyones dyno results and mods id love to check it out, im searching around but i cannot find it, thanks for any feedback you guys have!!!! By the way if you live on long island this place is awsome and they guys are mad cool, a neighborhood crack head even heard the cars and stopped in, LOLOL, dyno is great tho, by the way it was a dynojet....

Re: Dynoed Tonight, 243.99 hp with a 13.8 a/f ?
im sorry for the confusion.... Of coarse my car went to redline each time..... but for some reason he couldnt find a strong signal from any wires becuase of the external coils so the dynojet program didnt get a smooth curve becuase there was times it didnt get a reading... So i only have hp to mph graphs and air fuel graphs with rpm readings up until about 6,000 rpms.... Even on the MPH graph you can def. see that my power is climbing all the way until redline, which was 112mph.... It was late when we did this so i didnt print all of them out, ill post them tomorrow....

Re: Dynoed Tonight, 243.99 hp with a 13.8 a/f ?
Where did they measure the A/F ratio? Did they use a sniffer and place it in the muffler tips?

The short answer is yes. With your mods the A/F would lean out. Mine did. But mine wasn't close to being dangerous so I left it as is. Within reason, lean is mean.

The sniffer at the tips will often show 0.5-0.8 leaner than if the measurement is taken before the cats (which is generally more accurate).

That's what I was getting at Mr. Jellyfish . I'm hoping he took the reading at the exhaust tips, so he is only ~13 (which I think for a NA car is pretty good)...

Yea he was putting the probe in the exhuast pipe, at first he thought it came out but than he realized my a/f was really that lean, if its normally a little lower than that than im a little more happy but still seems a bit too lean....

Re: Dynoed Tonight, 243.99 hp with a 13.8 a/f ?
After these mods (ie ztube, cai/pc, plenum, cats), is it time to upgrade the ECU? If so do we expect more power or is it just to get the a/f into a safer range??

Eloy,
It is funny you brought up our dyno day, since what the originator of this post is describing looks exactly like what Chenga (Andy) was experiencing. Due to the detonation they couldn't get strong signal and dynograph was abrupt.
Chuckd,
Did the dyno operator say anything about detonation?

Chuck...no worries...I had the Injen exhaust and Kinetix hi-flo cats and mearsured a 15.05 AF...with "breather mods" you'll do that. The ECU richens you up toward the top but you couldn't see that...
