Only 'speed bump' I've heard is missing detaching some of the lines and stretching them out. Ask Sylvan Lake V35 or red35, they have lots of experience yanking V35's.

I read that in the above DIY ont eh Z forum, I usually double check around the motor before I start yanking anyways. There is always something that could be missed. I will have to hope and pray that I get it all.

Yea definately gonna take my time. I will be driving my Conquest after I stick the motor in tonight.

I'm Very fortunate that the motor is ready to go in and it doesn't take too long to throw it in.

Did you even try pulling your motor apart and examining before dropping coin on another motor?

No, I am familiar with what a broke timing chain sounds like and acts like. I am certain it is broken. If it's not a broken chain then it's the crank or cams broken. Either way the motor has 130k miles on it and I have a new one being delivered with 5000mi. on it. I will have MAYBE $800 in a new motor. I'm not worried about it.
Also I can resell the parts off the old block and make most if not all my money back. The bottom end is still good and the heads would be good with a rebuild.

If you only paid $800, good deal. I simply was asking if you've broken in yet and assessed overall damages. I'd be interested to know what all broke when it let loose. Kind of an objective perspective.

Oh no, I haven't had time yet. I actually got the new motor for $500+$230 shipping and I will need a top end gasket set. So I figure I might have $800 or maybe $900 to swap it all out.

Believe me I will post up my findings once I tare it down. I am interested to see what happened as well although I'm almost certain it was just too much enertia when the Harmonic Balancer came loose and let go of all that stress on the motor while I was gettin' on it in 1st gear. Basically, the HB was pulling the Power Steering, A/C, and the Water Pump and then all the sudden not pulling anything and spun the chain so hard it snapped.

My friends SABB 9-3 Turbo did the same thing when he lost his serpentine belt while getting on it. Just a bad combination of events. Timing belt let go and bent all the valves.

Well, found out today that my Father In law is gonna repaint my bumper for me while it's off replacing the motor. That's a big plus cause the rock chips are aweful.

where did you find that motor for $500 with so low miles?

Let us know when you rip into your engine and take pictures so we can see what you find.
