it doesn't reset fuel trims. once you're in CLFC the ecu uses the o2 sensors to keep you from running too rich or too lean. it remembers the adjustments even through a peddle reset. when i originally had my car reflash tuned, the ecu kept leaning out. since my tuner was out of the country, he had me do the 'hard', battery resets since the peddle reset would not take the car back to the base reflash & fuel trims. the battery reset wipes out everything the ECU has learned.

iirc, u don't lose your radio settings with a pedal reset, but you do lose them with a battery reset. i only listen to CDs and the stuff on my ipod (radio sucks these days) so i don't really pay attention to it.

Well I wonder why I did not lose my settings after the battery reset? I disconnected the negative terminal for 15min then depressed the break peddle several times for 30 seconds each time and reconnected and the radio stations and blue tooth was still set. What gives?

i'd press the brake pedal immediately after you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, then wait a few mins before reconnecting. your short trip mileage meters (A & B) should also reset.

Tried it and still have all my radio settings. My trip mileage "did" reset back to 0. Is it possible there is a capacitor inside the radio that holds on to a little power and it maintains the radio stations? How else can I tell if the ECU reset?
I did the peddle thing and everything work out, but my radio stations were still there also. Any other suggestions.....

you're in a whole different generation of G from most of us

fwiw, if your trip meter reset then you're probably good to go. was there a particular reason why you wanted to reset your ECU?

No not at all. Just kept reading that resetting it would cause it to lose its memory. Just wanted to see how it runs from a clean swipe. Really no reason, no problems. Putting the hypertech sport programmer in this Saturday. Just wanted to reset it before install. Also understanding no reason to, the G will accommodate for it in a matter of minutes and make the adjustments on its own (from what I am reading).

anyway, thanks for your time and replies

Well do #3, this seems to effect the ECU more than #1. #1 seems to be a partial reset.

i only do #1 because i don't like losing radio settings, since I just moved my car to LA and I don't know the stations. If it doesn't reset everything, maybe I should just buckle down and battery reset O_o?
