100 Octane Fuel

Hey guys!

A few times now I've driven over to the 76 in San Jose, CA that has 100 octane racing fuel. Let me just tell you, WOW! I've only put it in a few times (cause it's $4 a gallon) but you can really tell a difference. It's much more responsive, acceleration is smoother, and it's a blast to drive! The gas mileage was about the same, though I wish it were better so I could justify putting it in my car all the time =)

If you wanna give it a try, it's on 3010 ALMADEN EXPRESSWAY, SAN JOSE CA. I'm sure there's others all over the place, but this is the one I went to.

Have fun! Love my G!

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

So the high octane juice worked well eh? Wonder if the octane in a bottle works too? Can't get that 100 up here in Ontario. Thanx for the tip Flatfeet. Gsedanman, Garnet Fire Sedan

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

I agree to some degree.

The stock motor is engineered to run accordingly and efficiently with the recommended octane. Some vehicles (generally with high reving motors), however, have been tested with a higher octane, but this would be indicated in the user's manual. In short, using a higher octane may actually compromise performance and harm the stock motor.

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

It's true!!! Higher octane is harder to burn. So unless your engine requires it, it could be as bad as not putting in enough octane. Should really stay with what the factory recomends.

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

Not to mention if you use it too much and go back to normal octane, you will have some serious engine knock...

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

Why don't you try aviation fuel. Just add some to your tank. This will pack a lot more punch than your 100 Octane Fuel.

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

What do you guys know about the ECM of the G35? How do you KNOW that it won't take advantage of the higher octane? 10 year old Supra TT's DO!

And it WON'T harm the engine, please.

All we need is dyno numbers.

Re: 100 Octane Fuel

The newer EMS adjust timing and A/f according to many factors ie. knock. If it doesn't detect a lean run condition, its going to advance timing beyond normal (ie. 91 octane) while running the 100 octane fuel, thus more power to the wheels and "butt-dyno".

Modern technology gentlemen, get on board already!! Its not your daddy's buick...Thanks Infinity
