oil cooler install- thread sealant for aluminum fittings?

All-

Getting ready to install my home-brew oil cooler- was doing some other work and have got a supply of Permatex Ultra Black- http://www.permatex.com/products/Aut...sket_Maker.htm- any reason why this wouldn't do a fine job? I've used true thread sealants in other applications (high-pressure pool plumbing), haven't always been happy with them, and thought that have their reason for being was for lubrication (and a lot of the auto-specific sealants have teflon for that, and are also cross-purposed for gasketing anyway).

No need to use thread sealant on AN fittings.

The fittings are design to seal with pressure if you use the AN fittings.

Sorry, meant to say these are all NPT (tapered) fittings, so no positive seal here nor compressed gasket (like in straight thread).

OK, problems with the NPT fittings, so switching over to AN Never used them- is the seal made with the gasket, or with the angled edge? I have to believe it's with the gasket alone- trying to figure out what I need to order- hose ends/fittings- doesn't look like all of them come with gaskets.

Thanks again!
