Stillen SC Warranty "available"

I keep hearing about the Stillen warranty being available for the Stage I and II kits but the keyword is "available". Meaning the warranty does not come with the SC, it's available to be purcahsed at an additional cost. Does anyone happen to know what that additional cost is for the warranty?

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

I emailed them about that:

"The warranty is available for all stage-1 and stage-2 supercharger kits at an added cost of $260.00. This covers the engine and powertrain against damage caused by the blower for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first). There is a $4000 limit on repairs with no deductible. There have been no blown engines due to our supercharger kit."

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

Hey for 260 bucks that's a steal! Very very strict guidelines but it's better than nothing. I'm just worried about the long run as of now.

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

Do a search on my350z.com FI forum. Apparently Stillen customer service is pretty bad. Fortunately their kit is set up so safely, they figure they'll never need to use the warranty, and they're probably right.

Before you buy a Stillen S/C read this Stillen Sucks!

After reading this thread, and many others about S/C's and TT's, I figure that I won't run FI on my G. I'll just save the ~$8K - $10K that I'd spend for my next car.

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

Sorry but Stillen does not suck. Only someone who doesn't know stillen good enough would make a comment like that. Stillen makes top notch products. They also want to protect the consumer from having any problems with their products. I rather own Stillen stuff over ATI or a few others.

now if they could just make a kit that would clear the stock hood. Stealth is important to me although the hood doesn't look as bad in person as it does in the pics.

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

Hey G35_TX, Just to clarify... I never said that "Stillen Sucks", I was just giving you a website called <font color=blue>www.stillensucks.com</font color=blue>

After reading about 10 stories like this one...

<blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

I ordered suspension techniques sway bars (remarked as 'stillen'), a Stillen front strut tower bar, and an Injen cold air intake for my S14 240SX from Stillen. My contact was Bill Claytor, we agreed on a deal, I provided him with my address, apartment and buzz code, and the products were shipped out, and I was supposed to get a call with the tracking number.

No call. Bill wouldn't call me back when I left messages. I basically forget about it for 2 days, but three weeks later when the parts don't arrive I'm peeved and call again.

According to Bill, I refused the order. That's impossible, since the UPS delivery guy never appeared at my door. I ask Bill to read the address posted, and he confused the buzz code and number. I ask him to repeat, he does it again so I said "there's the problem, can you fix that and ship it out again?"

His reply? "We'll have to charge you shipping one more time." Even though it was his fault that they confused the buzz code and number. We get into a heated discussion and I threaten to call my credit card company and get ALL my money back - they could shove their 25% restocking fee where the sun don't shine. Suddenly Bill got co-operative, sent the items out again...and this time I made sure to get a tracking number immediately. Good thing too, because Bill confused the buzz code and apartment number yet again. Whatever, I got my parts, time to drop it.

That's until my credit card statement arrives and I see a second charge from Stillen. I call in to ask what it is, they said it must have been the 25% restocking fee. I looked at my statement and pulled up the previous month's on the internet and I didn't get a refund in the first place, never mind the restocking fee. After some discussion, they pointed out that they'd paid for shipping. Regardless, I put off dealing with Stillen because I simply can't wait to install the goodies.

Funny thing though - the sway bars, while they fit, have brackets that don't. Some are weird shapes. Others are a quarter of an inch too short. Obviously they are not for my car, even though the instructions say they are.

The strut tower bar ending up banging against a plug of some sort when the engine revved. I moved that out of the way, but later ended up cutting a vacuum line that got pinched between the plug and the strut bar. Great fitment, Stillen.

I call Stillen again. I'd have to pay shipping to get replacements, and they deny charging me shipping a second time even though I can clearly point it out. Forget it. I don't even want to deal with this company anymore.

Bill suggests I call Suspension Techniques. My inquiries there are politely dealt with until they hear I bought from Stillen, then they tell me all complaints must go through Stillen.

I absolutely cannot ever stress enough - Stillen. Sucks.

<hr></blockquote>
... I can only conclude that this is a company that I personally do not want to do business with. If you do a search on my350z.com about Stillen, there are a good number of threads where people have had multiple problems with their vehicles, from having the wrong parts sent out, to over charging, to poor customer service, unfair restocking fees, etc...

I for one have never dealt with Stillen, but after the number of stories I've read, I will most likely never do business with them. BTW, I've heard plenty of good stories about many other companies, like Performance Nissan, Crawfordzcar, Racing Zone, etc... that I would look forward to doing business with in a heart beat.

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

I have been dealing with Stillen for 10 years. And I have never had a problem with them on anything. I only deal with Adam Hume that has been there since I knew Stillen was around. Customer service has always been great.

You gonna believe the internet. Remember, one bad apple gets spread to alot of people. But that doesn't mean there is another side to the story.

Good, glad you won't give business to Stillen Neffster. Leaves them safe from you complaining about their products and us having to hear it from you.

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

As for the warranty do you have to live in CA to get any repairs done? Or do they have a network of mechanics around the country? I live in NM and if the warranty is only good if you go to Stillen in CA then it's pretty much worthless unless I want to ship the car out that way

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

That is a good question jruss! The warranty sounds like a goodway to go but it really depends on where you have to take it. My guess is you'd take the car to an Infiniti dealer to have engine work done but might have to send the SC into Stillen if it needs work though I'm pretty sure many dealers are certified with Stillen and can do all the work. Either way I'd like to have a definitive answer.

As for Stillen sucking...the story Neff posted looked more like a "Bill Sucks" story to me but who knows. I personally have no experience with their products but simply put if you want FI you don't have many options. Crawford might have great customer service but Crawford doesn't make an FI solution so they are not even part of the equation. The real question is who is the better company: Vortech, ATI, Stillen, PE, Greddy...I would've said PE but tell that to Gurgen (blew his engine last week)! I honestly don't know who is best but I know only one provides a warranty and for me it's as simple as that!

Re: Stillen SC Warranty "available"

When both my friend and I had a problem with Stillen's rear sway bar on our 4th gen Maxima's, we reported the issue to Stillen's technical support only to be made fun of. There were no instructions that indicated the extremes of the settings.

I installed my sway bar kit myself and my friend has his professionally installed. Twice on my ride and once on his the rear brake lines got snagged resulting in an instant loss of brake pressure (i.e. oh **** no brakes).

I told them of the detailed flaw which was setting the sway bar too far forward but they just didn't care. I told them they should look into at least including documentation regarding the adjustability of their part (since it was an adjustable sway bar), but they just didn't care.

If they don't care about people's safety, then I don't care about their products. Alternatively, I loved their SC kit on my Maxima. Now I only buy Stillen when I know it's a highly proven part. Logistically, I'm not fond of the company.

I am for their g35 sedan exhaust though, that's a sweet product and I don't think there's any potential risk in my safety.
