I started the engine. then I realize that the "VDC off" sign, "Slip" sign and "service engine" sign were on. Then I tried to get the car moving. But there was something weird about the throttle. When I pressed down the gas pedal. the RPM does not want to go up as usual. The RPM went up really slowly. Then I pressed the gas pedal pretty hard, I think I floored it, but the engine still wasn't working normally.
I decided to pull over, turn off the engine and poped up the hood. I thought that there is something wrong with the MAF (I have Ztube n Popcharger), but everthing seemed to be fine.
Then, i tried to start the engine again. this time the VDC and Slip sign were off, but the service engine sign was still on. at this point, the engine is working normally. the throttle response was normal.

My coupe is a 6mt, i have 6600 miles on it. anyone have any idea about what causing this problem?
Has this ever happened to anyone?
I have scheduled a service at the dealer next week.

I was going to say a transmission problem, but those aren't self corrected are they?

 

maybe ur ztube and everything isn't tight enuf.
u probably have to reset the ecu to get rid of that service engine light.

 

I have checked the Z tube and pop charger. Everything was fine. There is no kink on the MAF tube.
I have the Z tube and pop charger for about 4 months. But everything was golden until today.
can this be happened because of the dirty pop charger filter?
I haven't cleaned it since I put it on 4 months ago.
This evening I put back the stock air filter box, but kept the z tube on, and the service engine sign is still on.

If you had a BMW, I'd say your car was in "limp mode". I'm not sure if our cars have anything like this to keep them from doing more damage to themselves.

Easiest answer is the most obvious one. Take the car to the dealer, or call the dealer and have them come p/u the car. You could have oil on your MAF, or it could be a number of other things. Since I don't have OBDII equipment, I couldn't tell you for sure.

Use the warranty, you paid for it!

 

Take it to the dealer to get checked ASAP. If possible, replace the stock air box before you take it in.

 

i have scheduled an appointment with the dealer next week. and yes, i have put the stock intake box back. But I still have the Z tube on.

Your car went into a limp mode . Alot of the FI guy have had this problem , and its more than likely to be MAF sensor .Just take it in and they can hook it up and find out right away...no biggy...dont worry..its covered

Sorry, but it doesn't sound like any FI problem,
my car is fully stock, same thing happened to me a 2 weeks ago, had about 3000 miles on it.
Slip On, VDC off, and Service Light on.
I took it to the dealer, they didn't give me an explanation,
but here is what's on my invoice.

I didn't see any replacement parts changed.

 

Maybe water in your gas? Just a thought...

 

i dunno, it's been raining here in cali for a couple of days and i took off my vdc and while i was driving my slip light just turned on. everything else worked fine. i did not have any problems with rpms or anything. i pulled over and restarted my car and the light turned off.... pretty weird. btw, before i tried turning my engine off i tried to push the vdc button but it would not reset or anything.
