Sometimes it's hard for me to replicate the sound because it's so faint. I'm not too car savvy tbh, so would it be a bad idea to just replace all the spark plugs since they are so cheap and see if I can get rid of the problem? They haven't ever been replaced and the car has about 85k miles.

Plugs alone dont take care of the problem. Besides your OEM plugs are designed to last for 100,000 miles.

This article has plenty of pics decent find

Awesome, thanks. I'll pull my plugs and see what I find.

Hopefully I don't find much

i know what happen to your engine. same thing happen to be for 3 years now. infiniti doesnt want to replace my motor before the warranty was up. now im hitting 90k. you're experiencing the timing chain. let me guess, it sounds like a bicycle chain moving at the beginning, and then a few hundred miles, it gets louder, when you rev, all you here is a metal chain moving. you're low on oil. let your car sit for a little and pull out the dipstick. because i was burning alot of oil.

^my sound like that.. but it only happens the 1st cold start of the day. I warm my car up and drive off around 1500-2k rpm it makes that Clanking / Grinding noice for like .5-1secs. Only happens when the car is cold the 1st drive.

Have you checked the oil? Is it lower than usual?

I doubt it's knock, you would through a CEL or go into limp mode if it was consistent.

It may be the timing chain or tensioner, a/c compressor, or even a pully or belt going out.

The oil is fine. I've heard from other people that it might be the timing chain so I'll have to look into that.

Could it be anything on the exhaust rattling. Just a little piece of metal would irritate the hell out of you if its in the wrong position.
