Crank engine damage
Crank engine damage
I accidentally tried to turn the engine on while the car was still on, ( I thought it stalled out and couldn't hear the engine due to music) It made a scraping sound metallic sound. Anyone know how bad that kind of damage is?
Re: Crank engine damage
It was simply the starter gear engaging "grinding" the Flywheel's ring gear. It has nothing to do with the crank or internal engine assembly, so don't get overly concerned it's a common mistake . The bark is worse than the actual bite. Just don't make a pont of doing this often
Re: Crank engine damage
too bad they dont lock out the start position once you've been there once per insert. The VW/Audi cars have this but you'd have to do it alot to have any problems. Ground wires make my car too quiet and I did it the other day...

SixFive,
I agree..it would be very easy to do. My '02 Trailblazer has this function, and if Chevy can do it, Nissan certainly can !!! (waiting for flames from z06ified )
