Low on fuel, added fuel now wont start

I pulled into my driveway without paying attention to the gas gauge, parked the car and went inside for about 20mins. Came back and the car turns over and everything just wont start so I went and filled a 5 gallon gas can up figuring it would be enough considering the gas station is only a coulpe blocks away. After putting the gas in the car started I drove to the corner and it starting missing then completely shut off. Tried to re-start and it wouldnt do it plus all the lights were on the dash. Anyone???

you probably picked up or accumulated some water which lays in the bottom of tank. it has probably clogged your fuel filter now.

no serviceable filter - its just a SCREEN

Could have been air in the system. You can pull the 2 bolts holding the fuel regulator on. Turn ignition to on position but don't start. It should spray gas. If its not, then you aren't getting gas to the engine. Cycling on/off of the ignition will prime the system.
