10 seconds? you were bounding off the revlimiter/fuel cut-off for 10 seconds? What were you doing between seconds 2 and 10 to not know that you were bouncing off the rev limiter.

bouncing off the rev limiter is acceptable.

holding it there for 10seconds is a COMPLETE IDIOT would to. Just stay away from manual mode from now on.

Most likely the ECU protected your car by obviously cutting off fuel, little to no damage was done mainly due to its a MODERN car, had you do this on an older car, its would of had some damage.

I wouldn't worry about it but please dont do this often. Everyone talks about MM all the time here and then i used it a couple times and hated it, but then i found out when you shift in MM your not suppose to lift off the gas. I was lifting off the gas and the car was jerking cause of it.

10 Sec on the rev limiter... lulz

IDK about the G, but my friend's Subaru 2.5RS took constant abuse on the rev limiter every single day for years.
In the end, his tomfoolery wasn't what killed it, but rather a Chevy conversion van

I've hit the rev limiter plenty of times on the G, but never for 10 sec... you probably shouldn't make a habit of it.

Now the rental Camry on the other hand.........

Me too..

Hi guys,

No need to start a new thread here but I had the same kinda problem today with mine.

I was coming out of the grocery store and had to wait awhile(getting impatient) when a small opening came, I pounced on it. While turning the corner my hand slipped and I threw it into manual. I hit about 7000 before I shifted it back into auto.

My questions are..

This bad for the engine? probably not but Im asking you guys.

This bad for the tranny? not sure.

Car is an 06 g35x with 50k miles or 80k here in Canada.

Any input is appreciated.

I'm sure you are fine. Whenever I go to the drag way, the Honda boys leave their engines banging off the limiter for 30 seconds or more while their buddy "tunes" something under the hood.

I bang my limiter in 1st and 2nd all the time in my mustang. Tach can't keep up with the rpm climb and I hit it all the time. That's what it's there for...but try not to hold it there too long

many times my RPM needle will go a bit into redline, and its known that the tach can be upto 400rpm off.

Rev limiter is there to protect you, just shift

I was concerned about me shifting back into manual(I mean auto, haha) from 1st, but obviously its not a big deal.

How hard do you guys drive your g35s and what troubles may be associated with a heavy foot?

To add to the above ..... unwanted attention from law enforcement. A heavy foot can easily lead to unwanted speeding/wasting natural resource tickets.
