Let's Talk Cooling

Re: Let's Talk Cooling
I have done quite a bit to my G20 and have found out some good information, especially on track. So far I have a much larger radiator, tested a few different fan setups, experimented with radiator ducting, higher pressure radiator caps, water wetter, and I also have an oil cooler.
I have all the info written out, let me know if you'd like me to post any of it. It's not just car specific, but more general cooling system info.
Also, check out Griffin Radiators. They can make custom sized radiators for pretty much any application and aren't too expensive either.

Gurgen,
I wouldn't recommend keeping the stock end tanks. If you're going to upgrade the radiator, I'd recommend going with a full aluminum radiator. The stock endtanks can seperate from the core. I've seen it happen a few times now on OEM Nissan radiators.

OK - I've got groundwork for a custom radiator underway. If you are interested, please list yourself here.
Also, does anybody know the specific differences between the 6MT and 5AT radiators (I think the 5AT has a tranny cooler built into it.) And possible clearance issues between the efan and crank fans.
I need any specs you might have.
Thanks, Ted

Re: Let's Talk Cooling
Has anyone tried a waterless coolant? I found this link some time ago and have been curious, but I don't know anyone that's tried it.

Re: Let's Talk Cooling
have you guys had success with using radiator fluids? I've used RM125 and distilled water in all my cars and bikes. On my old GN, prior to using RM125, I'd be using your standard allweather coolant...my temp guage while using a 160* stat would hit in excess of 175* in +95* traffic with dual fans on high. After using RM125 and distilled watter, my datalogger recorded 160-165* with the fans on high as well, in +95* traffic. I now use RM125 and distilled water in the G35, the Fan does not kick on as often as before. the temp guage wend down a little as well. I dont have a datalogger for the G35 so I cant tell any accurate numbers. my ZX? same story..from over 221* down to 218*. 221 is still considered normal on a liquid cooled motorcycle. I also saw some finned oil pans on vendor sites. I think that's a good idea to keep oil temps down..while using a relocated oil filter and separate oil cooler. (did those on my old GN as well)
I also switched to using amsoil trans fluids and using an external oil cooler built by B&M, meant for 10,000GVWR. I also added a can of BG transmission treatment. Im uncertain how much degrees it nullified, but i'm sure what I did was good enough.
