Starter Problems?

I was wondering what the culprit could be.

Kind of similar to this:

When I start my car, it seems to me like the starter has a tough time getting the engine started. It always starts, but I'd like to know if the starter is just starting to go out. After looking through some searches it looks like it might be spark plugs instead. I just had the battery changed out in July and I have 95k on the car. Thanks in advance.

Need a little clarification. The starter does not start the car, it just turns the engine over.

So my question to you is what happens exactly. Is the starter sluggish and it turns over slowly and struggling? Or does the engine turn over at the same speed, but it takes a few extra cranks to fire up?

If the starter is slow, what's the condition of your battery?

It's slightly sluggish to start the car. The battery is new, just put it in in July.

Heres a general sequence of events that occur with starting/charging system.

1. Battery goes bad because the alternator is weak. Owner replaces battery without having charging system tested.

2. Starter goes bad because battery voltage low and will draw more starting amps. Owner replaces starter without having charging system checked.

3. Alternator finally gives out and owner replaces it.

A few things to check. Use a voltmeter/multimeter and measure battery voltage with car off, should be approx 12.5 to 13.2V. Check battery voltage with car running and should be 13.5- 14.2v approx. If not than alternator should be tested. The higher the voltage the better.

Also look for the obvious such as poor terminal connections on battery and starter or ground connections.
