HKS Bypass Valve - Questions for Vortech

Okay, so i finally decided to get the HKS Bypass Valve to replace the BV on my Vortech. Supposedly it provides less "jet" noise and a sharper "blow off" sound when shifting at WOT. Well, that remains to be seen - but though i'd give a try anyways.

Anyways, just some very basic questions:

1. The Bypass Valve has an internal spring (the one i bought rated for 12-18psi). What exactly does this spring do? I know that my present bypass valve hooks up to the manifold and when pressure is negative, it will open up the valve preventing any positive pressure to develop (during normal driving), and when under WOT it will close allowing positive pressure to develop.

Just not sure exactly how this all works and not much documentation on it as well.

I also know there is an emergency release valve for over-pressure, so i'm not sure if this spring has to do with that, or with the general valve operation.

Any help appreciated!
Thanks

Did you get the racing bypass valve? Your post seems to indicate this.

If so, the spring is only relevant if you hook up a 2nd vacuum sorce to the 2nd vacuum port when using as a safety "pop off". The spring does not have anything to do with general valve operation. This info can be found on HKSUSA.com faq.
