Installed Stillen Exhaust on Sedan, it feels slow?
About 5 days before I installed the Ztube and the Stillen CAB, and I defintely felt a increase.
AFter the exhaust install today, it feels a bit slow, maybe slower than without the exhaust. Is this due to the ECU, and should I reset it? Thanks for the help guys.

Same thing happened when I installed high flow cats and exhaust. It will take at least 100+ miles of driving for the ECU to adapt to the extra airflow. Don't bother resetting, just drive and it will adapt, then the power will come on stronger.

thanks for the tip. So 100+ miles? Damn, I drive like 3 miles a day. I guess its time for a road trip!

I think the 100 miles thing is a bit off. (This has been discussed to death many times before). There are 2 schools of thought on this topic. The school that I went to believes that the MAFS (mass air flow sensors) communicate IMMEDIATELY to the ECU and adjusts the fuel according to increased/decreased airflow. This would mean that your 3 miles of driving is MORE THAN ENOUGH for your car to figure out something kind of subtle has changed.
Really, how many CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air do you think you increased by adding the new exhaust compared to before you added the exhaust?

Yeah, maybe less than 100 miles (it really should be less than that) for the ECU to adjust. I just remember that it was about 100 miles, though during that time I was not pushing the engine very much--driving the wife, etc. My car was severely balking right after the install, and then it ran great after the adapting by the ECU.

Man, after the reset, its like a different machine as it improved throughout the day. Now that I am done with my mods for a few months, I am interested what a dyno would read on my baby. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Installed Stillen Exhaust on Sedan, it feels slow?
For myself, I really didn't care how loud it was, so I was anticipating the worst. So when I drove it for the first time, I thought this exhaust was pretty loud, especially between the 2k-3k RPM range.
The sound was ok with me so far, so I was expecting the same while driving on the freeway. I was wrong, after 80MPH+ at a steady 3k+ RPM's it really gets softer compared to driving on the street.
So in summary, whether you think this exhaust will be for you, there should be 2 questions. Whether you drive on the freeway alot or are you more of a daily street driver. For a daily street driver, the sound may get irritating. But if you spend more time on the freeway, this exhaust shouldn't bother you at all.
Sorry if this didn't answer you question, cause I don't know what droning should sound like. So I tried to give a best description of my own opinino. Plus my gf who expected it to be REALLY loud, she said the sound was nothing, and she felt like there was more punch to the car.

Re: Installed Stillen Exhaust on Sedan, it feels slow?
I had droning in my stang. Basically it's caused by the exhaust and usually occurs during cruising and certain rpms.
Basically droning should sound like a hum or constant note that you should hear inside the car.
In my stang it came on around 2k and lasted to about 3k rpm.
I know that most aftermarket exhausts have it, but just depends on how bad it is.
thanks
