VDC off...all the way off???
Re: VDC off...all the way off???
I'll try the fuse pull trick tonight when I go to the track. I'll post results tomorrow. My best time in the 1/8 mile is 9.405 in San Diego my best ever is 9.27 hopefully this will better my times (maybe). If it works I'll just pull the fuse when ever I go to the track.

passive ABS = the brakes will sill pulse to prevent locking up. dunno if that helps your a-hole situation though

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
I just got back from the track ( ILLG35 3am in the morning for you ) I'm in cali. I pulled the fuse and slip, abs and vdc off were lit. I did 4 runs before pulling the fuse and my times were consistent 9.3's. I then pulled the fuse and my times were slower 9.4-9.5, but I also noticed I was spinning alot more off the line. I think if I had slicks my times would of been alot better than 9.3's. I would say pull the fuse if you have slicks or else you will be fighting for traction. The 3 before mentioned lights go out once you replace the fuse. I have a question how do place a picture as part of your sig? Thanks

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
Skyline that sucks man!! I would have thought you would get off the line a lot quicker without bogging, or maybe thats just in my auto, w/e i'll try it out! Also to put an image in your sig the picture cant be too big #1, keep it around my resolution max or smaller, you have to put it in your sig like this:

I'll let you know how it goes when i take it out!

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
Good luck when you go to the track. My 60ft times before pulling the fuse were 2.303( highest) and 2.275 (lowest), after the fuse pull my 60ft times were 2.505(highest) and 2.380 (lowest). I think with the vdc completely off more power is getting to the ground without the vdc reducing it. I think that's why I was spinning so much you'll notice it when you go to the track. Make sure you do some before and after runs to compare. I also noticed you can't launch like you normally do after the fuse pull I usually launch in between 1200-1500, but I had reduce it to 750-1000 to stop spinning so much. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for the sig info and what size is your pic ILLG35?

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
Actually, in an AT you STILL have to deal with our crappy torque converters. You're still going to "bog down" just at a higher RPM range.
If you replace the fuse the lights will go out. It usually takes driving 10 feet or so for them to go out however. If they are still on after 50 feet or so check the fuse.
I still wouldnt suggest running with VDC on a track, slicks or not. The traction has everything to do with the tires at that point, but I still wouldnt want my brake system engaging in ANY way to prevent slip. You should be controlling the car via your axel (throttle) and your steering. I've found that almost all of my spins at the track occured because of OVER CORRECTING the car.
I actually spent the day out with Daijiro Yoshihara at drift day yesterday. I went because I could recreate track-like turns and had no walls to really get a feel for where understeer occured and what I found was enlightening. In almost every situation that I spun out, it was because I had over-corrected. When I learned not to (thanks Dai) not only was able able to control the drift, but I was able to control the grip as well.
I don't know if that makes sense, I hope it does. I'll admit it didn't to me until it just clicked as I did it, and then it was like one of those "ahh ha" moments. With VDC switched to off I would have to correct for the slip correction. WIth the fuse pulled I just had to learn how to counter steer correctly. I suggest you hit a drift day somewhere and practice if your spinning out on the track

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
G4 i understand what you meant lol, happens to me all of the time when im trying to explain myself, then i re-read it and it sounds way diff. and makes sense, weird LOL!! Anyway i never tried it yet, (Fuse out at track or fuse out) but i will be going soon! I dont know wether to keep my 19's on to prevent alot of wheel spin, because even now off the line my wheels will start spinning at abotu 2k rpm's of powerbreaking, and with stock wheels my times should be WAY quicker but i will have no grip, i need to think of something.. I HATE the way the car bogs down, it takes like 3-5 seconds before ti will kick in, and that's being modded also, it sucks! Thanks for the info though... Martin

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
When dragging in the 5AT without slicks, turn of VDC and do not rev up. Simply go left foot brake and right gas... and mash it just before the green. You will now be in a "no bogging zone" enjoying your ride screaming down the line.

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
exactly...just get it to the point where you are even between barely braking and gas is just below moving you.
then mash it

Re: VDC off...all the way off???
Ahhhh Teddd, your the man haha!! If you stomp the pedal coming off the brake from a dead stop it bogs, if you power break to high it bogs, and this regulates everything and shoots you off, im excited now thanks again... Martin =)
