Yeah, just switch back to conventional and see if that helps. I used to use 20w50 conventional for a long time in the G (of course I live in a tropical climate). I switched to 10w30 Magnatec which is a semi-syn and haven't had any problems. The Magnatec is supposed to be 4x slicker than other oils, and honestly I can tell a difference in engine smoothness vs other oil. I know that sounds like placebo, but I've tried all kinds of oils and I have never felt a difference like that.

That's a 'perk' of living in the Bay Area. There's no women here so yeah, sort of a habit

I've learned to live with the noise. If the windows are up, you can't hear it. Kinda like if I don't look it's not there
