How much is too much..?

How much oil do our cars normally lose between oil changes? Ive so far gone through about >1QT in about 2500-2800 miles driving my G pretty hard.

What im basically trying to decide is 1: my car has the infamous oil consumption issue 2: Im being paranoid and my car is fine just losing the normal amount.

I've searched and found conflicting answers from alot of people. One said that 1 QT every 3000 miles is OC. But another will say that is 1QT every 1000 miles is acceptable...?

also my whip has 82xxx miles and is 5AT (which isnt supposed to have OC thanks to the lower rev limit then 6MT)

enlighten me!

check the infiniti TSB for actual measures to determine if you have an OC engine.

if your car doesn't have the REV-Up motor - the OC TSB won't apply... your car may just be burning oil.

What type of oil do you use?

Mobile1 full synthetic. I have a 2005 model so no revup for me. So oil consumption and oil burning are different right? I imagine either one isn't good lol

If you're driving your car hard, 1 qt every 2500-2800 is not bad. Oil consumption occurs in some vehicles and not in others. So it's really a hit or miss kind of thing.

Most manufacturer's are not going to do a thing if you're burning less than 1 qt per 1k miles.

As for oil, what viscosity of Mobil 1 (no "e" at the end) are you using?
