Exclamation I REALLY need a lot of opinions and pov's on this.

I have searched and tried everything i could to fix my engines ticking sound.
One of the cylinders is just not receiving enough oil.

For 2 years ive been trying to fix it changing oil types and putting treatments in it nothing worked

so i thought about what if i buy the g35 sedan repair service manual, and do it myself? Maybe replace the cylinder heads, or whatever it is.

im a very technical/mechanical minded person, but havent done anything like this, im pretty much jumping into fire. But it could turn out to be a beneficial experience

Is this possible? If not, advice would be nice, thankss.

Is what possible? Your question really isnt clear.

Is replacing the heads possible? Of course, people do it all the time, really not that difficult eather.

If it is a ticking sound it is most likely timing related. Have you taken it to a mechanic? You really need a professional opinion before you start just ripping your head apart.

Oh im sorry i was asking if it is possible to tear the engine apart, not being a professional and all.

one mechanic said the hydraulic lifter is just weak, another said its cause the car wasnt maintained correctly by the first owner. I don't really know what it is exactly, thats why i thought id check myself since the dealer charges 2k just to open the engine.

Thanks for replying btw

Is possible to tear the engine apart if you are not a professional? Sure, anything is possible. However, it is also possible that you could make you situation worse.

Keep in mind that if you bust into your engine your car will be inoperable until you put it all back together correctly.

Additionally, if you don't know what you're doing, the likelihood of you jacking something up while you're mucking around in your engine is more prevalent than if you have actual experience and a grasp on what the specific issue is.

My opinion? Don't disassemble your engine looking for ghosts unless you have another dependable mode of transportation, a garage to work in, and an solid idea of the root cause of the issue you want to resolve.

God speed, and Odin's ******.

ticking sound is pretty normal on these engines. excessive ticking is often linked to the timing chain tensioner.

HOW DO YOU KNOW ONE OF YOUR CYLINDERS is not receiving enough oil?
