Silly question i know but is there a VIN imprinted on the motor itself? If so where is it?

 

I don't think its on the motor itself. There is a square VIN plate on the passenger side of the engine bay. Your engine bay is also imprinted on the firewall of the car behind the motor.

 

Yea I think there is a Engine ID number, I have heard about, just never seen it.

 

There is a number on the engine I am not sure if it is called or is the same number as a VIN but it could be used to identify what car (exact car) the engine came out of. If I saw this earlier I could have given you a definate answer I was working on my bare block tonight. If i recall it is at the back of the engine between the two heads...behind the lower intake plenum. However that is just what I recall I could be wrong on that though.
