Oil Filter question

I just got an oil change done at Firestone, now I think I made a mistake
Anyway I took my own oil and filter. They used my oil but they refused to use the filter and used their own. The said they cannot use the filter unless its Nissan. Usually they use Puralator plus filters which are quite good but this time they used a Firestone p/n TF2876.

Anyone knows what is the original mfr.of this filter. I hope its not Fram.
any ideas?
Thanks

Anyway thy used

Re: Oil Filter question

So they refused to use a non-Nissan filter but then used their own, which is also not from nissan? WTH?

Re: Oil Filter question

Yup, its kind of strange, maybe I should have tried to argue but I was in a hurry. He did say they cannot be responsible for engine damage and so they do not allow anything except use of original filter. Oil is OK as it was a name brand and sealed.

I was just wondering the same... I don't think Honeywell (FRAM) is the manufacturer of the stock filters... I'll take another look next time.

You will be fine for this change. Just make sure you put on the filter that you want next time, and if they won't do it, then go somewhere that will.

Firestone can kiss your a**!

All there doing is making an extra buck off ya. You
could have said "no take your filter off and install the
one I gave you." I would NEVER go back to Firestone
again. Find someone you can trust or do it yourself
then you know it's done correctly. Firestones rep.
isn't good anyway and they can't sell their garb.
tires so they make $ this way.........

Doesn't make a lot of sense not being able to have them install what you want. They aren't the one warranteeing your engine. Sounds like someone didn't know what they are talking about or they just don't want reduced margins.

^^ exactly go somewhere else nex time.

It amazes me how organizations can be so short sighted.
They force their product on you to make an extra $1 or less....
& in the process loose a customer

Yeah, that's all BS. I take my M1 oil and Purolator filter to the DEALER, and they do it no questions asked.

most shops actually have that policy due to their ins.liability is the issue, but with your own oil and filter id say 95% will use your oil and filter.
