Cat back exhaust
Cat back exhaust
Hey,
can anyone in the group help with this question? I wnat to but a Stillen catback exhaust (read a review in the latest turbo magazine stating it was the best maker of HP/Torque tested). I have a local tuner shop here in Sunny San diego thats claims Greddy catback makes better HP/torque. Which one is correct Turbo mag or my local tuner shop?

Re: Cat back exhaust
Ask for the dyno tthat proves it.
03 5AT Sedan, sunroof, splashguards, HKS muffler,
14 wire Grounding kit, Z Duct, Stillen HF/AB
Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals,
Stillen sway bars S/H. Sport Tuned Suspension

Re: Cat back exhaust
Forget the Stillen. They are way over priced for what they deliver. In a catback shout out down in San Jose July 03, among five brands Stillen showed a dyno HP gain of 7.1 and TQ gain of 7.3. Borla lead all five with a dyno HP gain of 8.2 and a TQ gain of 2.7. Many of us who own the Borla system say it is the catback of choice. I have not had any problems with mine at all, and really love the sound.

Re: Cat back exhaust
By any chance could we see the dyno plot of both system?
Peak numbers don't mean much. It almost sounds like the Borla has less mid and low end for a slight 1.x hp advantage up top (as expected of a true dual). If indeed the case, I wouldn't have think it's a better choice over the Stillen ... not for 1 peak hp at least.

Re: Cat back exhaust
The fact of the matter is that five systems were tested on the same day, and Stillen showed a HP gain at less than one half of what they advertise. For the substantial difference in cost, the Borla is clearly the best choice, that is, unless one has excess money to burn.
With regard to the dyno plots, ask our sponsor, Strictly Z as they were the co-sponsor of the event.

Re: Cat back exhaust
Surely no one in their right mind would buy into nor expect what Stillen advertises in power gain. What matters is how it compares among the different systems being offered.
